Diet plays a big role in ADD /ADHD. Sugar sensitivity is the one of the main culprit and sugar should be avoided as much as possible. However, Trans fats have also been tagged as one of the causes of ADD/ADHD, by inhibiting the production of DHA, a key structural component to the human brain. It is essential to avoid trans fats at all costs. This includes snack foods and fast food. No carbonated beverages, especially soda. If possible eat 3-4 eggs a day. Vitamins and minerals play a key role as well, but ensuring all the raw materials needed to stimulate all hormonal processes. I recommend you become educated on label reading, understanding what to look for and menu planning. You must be vigilant with avoiding sugar and trans fats. you should start to see different behaviors within 60 days, if these diet changes are followed accurately. I highly recommend a single consultation session, especially if you are struggling with a child with ADD/ADHD.
